After its renovation, Castle Thun was opened to the public in 2010. It is surrounded by fortifications, towers, bastions, trenches, and large gardens. After the Spanish Gate you get to the lift bridge and the courtyard, where you see the majestic Palazzo Signorile. Inside you find many rooms, with the original luxury furniture and the family paintings. The Bishop’s Room, dating back to the 16th century, is very popular: it is completely covered in wood of a local tree, called ‘Cirmolo’. The kitchens, the Room of the Weapons, living rooms and bedrooms can be visited too.
