Piz Galin is the most popular and classic Alpine Skiing route of the Paganella Plateau. And the reason is easy to understand: sunny route, panoramic with extraordinary views on the Brenta Dolomites and on the Paganella, completed with an exciting return route. It is a moderate to difficult trail, but it is really rewarding.
From the Val Biole parking lot (1,183 m) you ascend straight along the road towards Refuge La Montanara. At the crossroad close to Località Baita Pineta (1,296 m) you continue ascending straight, still towards Refuge La Montanara. When you are little lower than the refuge (1,450 m) you continue straight until a curve on the left, where you continue to go straight on the pat for the refuge, which goes into the forest, to reach a mountain road which crosses the slope).
Then you follow the small road going right on a slightly ascending path (North-East direction), until you reach the valley of Rio Fontanella (1,476 m). Pay attention: you can also reach this spot following trail SAT no. 352, which starts little after the parking place, on the right - GPS TRACK - which is not recommendable for the return route.
Here you continue to ascend, following the signs “Passo and Cima Lasteri - Piz Galin”, along the valley (North-East direction) until you reach the slopes above.
Once you reach the altitude of 1,900 m you turn slightly right to head for North, towards Cima Lasteri, going around some rocky plaques on the right, thus ascending over the Busa dei Lasteri (2,100 m), on the south-eastern part of the Cima Lasteri.
Continue crossing towards your right (East) and ascending towards Piz Galin.
Ascend on the south-western slope of Piz Galin; you go transversally on the right and then on the left and you reach the top (2,442 m).
Then you return along the same trail.
